So, you’ve made that New Year’s resolution. You’ve started out great, and THEN…
Perhaps getting off track isn’t all bad. Having a chance to start over…
These events don’t just impact the names and groups that get hashtags, but many other unnamed people who knew and loved them. ….To love requires sacrifice. Maybe we haven’t been willing to make the necessary sacrifices yet. Perhaps we haven’t understood the price of holding on to our ways and our own feelings at the expense of others.
What if staying comfortable IS a mistake?
The fact that your plans don’t work out the way you envisioned, doesn’t mean they won’t work out at all!
All it takes for a mental assent to the idea of quitting, and the next thing you know, you’ve thrown your dreams away. OR you could draw on that warrior within you and smash those defeatist thoughts to rise up and keep trying.
If you are a goal oriented, recovering perfectionist like me, then a setback would be viewed critically and a review of the goals would serve as a reminder of failure. That’s not good. I think this may be one reason why so many give up on their goals.
What about a different approach?
Feeling frustrated to the point of wanting to give up doesn’t mean that you are unsuccessful. More than likely, it means that you are trying. You are chasing goals. You are out of your comfort zone. You are DOING GREAT!
What if the thing you don’t want to do, or think you can’t do is the ONLY thing standing between you and the breakthrough you long for?
If your dream was going to be easy to fulfill, you would’ve already done it.
